My first thought was, I wonder how this would look with a rim/kicker light. :)

ahh Yah, great thought :-) i will keep that in mind for any future shots :-)
I had two first thoughts. The separation between the girls and the background being one. A kicker here would have been one solution or a touch of lightening to the background perhaps. The second of my first thoughts is that I would have shaded, in lighting, their arms, so the focus is maintained on their faces.
I think the shot is really nice and just needs a bit of refining.

I can see what you mean on both things, and agree that i could have dimmed the lights on their arms a bit more.
The seperation from the background however or lack of, is intentional.
Having intentionally lost the separation between subject and background, do you still feel it is better this way, or do you now feel a hint of separation would have been better?
I think for the black and white part and for the mood in the photo, I like it this way.
Had i wanted it in color, i think a hint of seperation would have been alot better for it.
Love the simple lighting set up.

I really like this. The images simplicity refelects the core idea here of sisterly love. Maybe a suggestion of a background would improve it slightly, but sometimes simple is best.
