I had previously tried photographing this tree with no success, but the snow made a perfect backdrop and allowed the limbs, trunk, and remaining leaves to really stand out. The photo was taken at Cahokia Mounds in Southern Illinois.
The photo was created from 4 photos stitched together using Photoshop. It was slightly cropped and the white balance adjusted.
