Rameshwaram Mahadeva Temple

The temple in Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu India is reputed to have over 1000 richly decorated pillars lining the rectangular corridors.

Thank you Celia, just to think photography was not permitted there, my Pentax dslr was kept in my lunch pack and escaped the guards' scrutiny. But once inside, everybody was taking pics. with their cellular phones!! Only cameras were not allowed, wonder why.

Saw, fantastic image. From what I gather this is a heavily visited tourist site, but also and foremost is a sacred pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva, visitor’s are expected to respect this aspect. FYI mobiles are suppose to be prohibited too. Maybe it appears not to be compelled with due to something called Karma … as as a Native American Indian spiritual leader used to say … you’re protected by your ignorance … good luck and may peace be with you.
