As is often the case with wildlife, I was out with the intention of photographing birds, but came across this Green-eyed Flower Bee and got distracted. It was the high-pitched buzzing that I first noticed and luckily had my macro lens with me, so I lay down and watched him clearing the entrance to his burrow, using his front and hind legs to push and kick clumps of soil away. Not seeming to be disturbed by my presence, other than an occasional inquisitive glance, I managed to get some nice images over a fascinating half an hour. Shot with a Nikon D850 and Laowa 100mm macro, 1/1000sec f/8 and ISO 640 with natural light. Located at Groznez, in the North West corner of Jersey.
