Double-collared sunbird

400mm · f/5.6 · 1/1250 · ISO 1000

This photo was taken in the Kirstenbosch botanical gardens in Cape Town, South Africa. I saw some birds visiting this flower from a bit further away, so I decided to get closer and wait until another bird would visit it. After 10 minutes or so, this double-collared sunbird landed on the flower to feed and I could take this photo.

Beautiful--your patience & preparation was rewarded!

Great shot Stef! Love how you captured the iridescence of the head and shoulders, the eye is nice and visible, and the orange of the flower.

I love Kirstenbosch been there numerous times over the past 40 years.
