I’m a Western Canada–based photographer and a passionate amateur. I’ve never pursued photography professionally and have no desire to do so. For me, it began as a creative outlet from a demanding career in engineering and management. Now retired, photography has become one of my favourite ways to spend my time, often alongside my wife.
My primary interests are wildlife, bird, aviation, and landscape photography. I enjoy the challenge of capturing not just a technically good image, but one that conveys the character, movement, or atmosphere of the subject. Photography gives me a great excuse to get outdoors, explore Western Canada and the rest of the world, and continue learning something new with every shoot.
My journey in photography began in the early 1990s when I purchased an Olympus IS-1 film camera. In 2001, I made the transition to digital photography with a Canon G1 and a 340MB Microdrive (for those who remember those)!
Over the years, I’ve upgraded and evolved with the technology, moving from my first DSLR, a Canon EOS 10D, to today’s mirrorless cameras. Through it all, my enthusiasm for photography has only grown.
