Barrow's goldeneye is a medium-sized sea duck. This bird was named after Sir John Barrow.
There is a very small pond next to a secondary highway in Alberta. There was just a pair of Canada Geese, a pair of Mallards, and a pair of Barrow's Goldeneye's. As they were somewhat desensitized due to the vehicular traffic I was able to get close for a short period of time before they took off.
Using a skimmer pod and gimbal I was able to get low and with the sun behind my back the purple gloss of the head and yellow eye is really nicely lit.
