The Mountain Bluebirds have started to return to Alberta (eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains) for 2026. This bird is also the state bird for Idaho and Nevada.
Here in Alberta we have thousands of nesting boxes mounted to farm fence posts. There are even guidelines for the dimensions/size of these boxes, mounting locations, etc. These nesting boxes are crucial for conservation.
