Beautiful model Tresy with strong side light from large window. After shooting countless natural window light portraits, headshots and model shots, I was looking for a little more drama and felt that this professional model's features could work with a deeper and more contrasty set up.
The light is from large (8'x8') window with simple nylon sheer material hanging which provided both a background and a light source. I intentionally brought the model forward to move the effective angle of the light to more side-rear to reduce the amount of wrap that the large volume of light provided. I also enhanced the contrast by using negative fill from 4'x4' Chimera panel with the black skin just outside of the crop.
While I also shot many satisfying frames on this set up with the model more in the center of the light effect which had a more conventional Rembrandt-sidelight effect, I was particular drawn to the contrast from the side-rear light angle.
