In the spring of 2026, the Museum Ludwig in Cologne will present a comprehensive retrospective of Yayoi Kusama, highlighting a body of work that spans more than seven decades. Developed in close collaboration with the artist, the exhibition serves as the highlight of the Museum Ludwig’s 50th-anniversary celebrations. It features iconic pieces alongside works never before shown in Germany and new productions. A special highlight is one of her famous Infinity Mirror Rooms, which use mirrors and light to simulate infinite spaces. Kusama, an icon of contemporary art, captivates audiences with her signature style—characterized by rows of large, evenly spaced circles (polka dots), organic forms, and repetitive patterns that reflect the theme of infinity.
