The Wellington to Picton ferry left port early in the morning after a sever storm the night before. It was cold, the skies were dark, the rain was blowing onto the decks and passengers were bracing for a rough crossing.
As the ferry continued, the skies slowly brightened, gaps appeared in the clouds and sea calmed.
For the next two hours of the 2.5 hour trip, we were treated to a most spectacular crossing.
