Shadows claim the valley, but the peak holds the light. Standing on the edge of the Caucasus mountains watching the storm roll over Mount Kazbek.

Composition breakdown: I used the dark, jagged slate in the foreground as an anchor to create a sense of scale and depth, guiding the eye up through the sunlit ridge directly to the peak. The challenge here was balancing the intense highlights on the clouds and snow with the deep shadows in the valley.
