This was lit with 2 parabolic umbrellas positioned to the left and right of the fencers just outside of the frame.
In order to get the light streak I used the modeling light on my Einsteins and had the camera set to rear curtain. BUT just as I about to start one of my Einies malfunctioned and wouldn't fire. Luckily the modeling light still worked and I had acess to a speedlight which I just gaffer taped onto the top of the malfunctioning strobe. And thats why we carry gaffer tape folks!
The portraits were taken with the same parabolic umbrella at 45 x 45 degrees.
Stuff used:
Nikon d5 1"
Nikon 85 1.8 f = 5.6
2 x parabolic umbrellas
2 x Paul C. Buff Einsteins
1 x Nikon SB 5000 set to slave mode
Elinchrome Cybersync
Fence
85mm · f/5.6 · 1s · ISO 100
