When I shot this, it was midday and I didn't have an ND filter with me, so I improvised. Shooting at 50iso and f16 to lengthen my exposure as long as possible, I shot 96 consecutive exposures with a shutter release and manually averaged them in photoshop. The result was better than I'd hoped for, with this effect on the water appearing almost like brushed metal.
