After a dazzling sunrise at the highest point of Portugal, away from civilization, noise and people, we began the descent. A descent that makes the ascent seem like a joke, loose and warm rocks of vulcanic activity mixed with the vertiginous sight of the sea to a steep 2351 meters of altitude.
The Pico mountain is on the island of Pico, in the Azores. It is a dormant volcano that rises to an imposing 2351 meters. The only way to get to the top is by a winding 3-kilometer trail with an altitude of 1121 meters, made of stone and volcanic ash.
