Isolated

On the way to a milky way shoot late last year I happened to find this little tree isolated from its peers. I noticed that it lined up precisely with Mt. Hood and just needed a large zoom lens to reach it.
One of my favorite letters to find in nature is the "Z" which was created here by shadow and light from the setting sun.

I'm always a sucker for an opportunity that pops up along the way on a photo trip. Some of the photos taken during these spontaneous moments are my favorite because I never would have planned them to begin with :)
