Ganga Aarti, Rishikesh

Another one of my photos from my time living in India, this one is from the week we spent in Rishikesh.
This ritual is called Ganga Aarti, it involves ritual chanting, singing and giving thanks to Maa Ganga (or Mother Ganges) and the asking of blessings.
Ganga Aarti can be seen in many of the cities along the Ganges. Allahabad, Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Varanasi are some of the best places to see the Ganga Aarti
