Security Footage Shows Thieves Stealing $50,000 of Camera Equipment in Less Than a Minute

Footage from a camera store robbery shows thieves making off with approximately $50,000 in camera equipment in less than one minute.

Hunt's Photo and Video, a camera store in Manchester, New Hampshire, was the recent victim of a robbery in the early morning hours of December 20, in which thieves managed to steal about $50,000 worth of equipment in just 53 seconds, using an ax to break into the store and smash a display case, then dropping armfuls of equipment into plastic storage tubs. What's even more amazing is that this is the second such robbery in just four months, with the first one resulting in a similar loss. Police believe that the two robberies are connected.

The one upside is that being a camera store, Hunt's has good security cameras; in fact, they're the same models that the store installed for the local police. Thankfully, the cameras managed to catch the entire incident, including a look at the face of one of the suspects, though the owner is still tabulating the total damage and the exact items that were lost to the robbery, though they've remained open for business in the meantime.

Hopefully, in addition to replacing the glass, the store will invest in something like security shutters.

Their front door should have a security cage in front of it with a secure lock. Anything that makes the potential thieves take more time to break in will help. Also placing the high value equipment in a vault would dissuade the thieves since they would want the big ticket items over the "cheap stuff".

Yeah, the store should have done a better job. It's clearly their fault. Let's not blame or punish the people who actually stole the gear. They should have done this, they should have done that... The problem is that the losers who stole the gear will get a slap on the wrist. Funny how upside down the world is where we blame the victims now and not the scum who commit the crime. They are all good boys, just poor so it's understandable. It I had a son like that....

Poor boys probably had a bad youth. Society let them down by not telling them that stealing other peoples belongings is not nice.

Very good chance no one is going to jail for this.

Not a lot of $ involved, less than a tricked out PU truck or SUV. If they find the guy, with the loot, and he is a habitual criminal they might send him up the river. Many DA will not take a case they aren't 99% sure they will win.

You voted for Trump I see.

"The problem is that the losers who stole the gear will get a slap on the wrist."

If they stole $50,000 in gear and get a slap on the wrist, I'd call them winners...

Now the taxpayers have to foot the bill to keep them in prison.

Glass doors? For real?

Not to be picky, but I'm going to be anyway...

This was not a robbery. It was a burglary. A robbery happens when the victim is threatened in order to take something from them by force. There was apparently no one in the store when this theft happened, so this was a burglary. The culprits were burglars, not robbers.

Having given my two cents from the grammar/language police, I hope the actual police catch these people and that they spend a few years contemplating their misdeeds inside a cell someplace.

Not to be picky, but I am going to anyway... Yes! It was a BURGLARY, which technically is entering a structure, dwelling with the intent to commit a crime. But the theft itself was a LARCENY and with the loss being around $50, it is GRAND LARCENY. You are right regarding ROBBERY, which involves a victim and in some jurisdictions, a ROBBERY must place the fear of GOD aka FEAR OF HARM OR DEATH to qualify as a robbery, otherwise it is just a LARCENY, or GRAND LARCENY. These pukes were very organized, this is not their first rodeo.

...

The grammar war rages.

It has nothing to do with grammar. It has to do with ignorance of the laws one is talking about. The difference between robbery, burglary and larceny are not grammatical errors. They are separate statutes. But if course this is 2019 Americana, where the person making the error is excused and the person recognizing and attempting to correct the error is scorned. It's okay... I understand!

Yes, you are the grammar police, self appointed. You're selling a book. There are comments below from other of you cops saying that comments from others show that they don't know how to write properly. How ridiculously arrogant: the only thing that mistakes in comments prove is what showboats those who chime in to correct them are. We ain't here to write literature. If that's what you want why don't you get on with doing it.

It's awful that such burglaries happen so often. It's just a matter of time when something like that will happen to ordinary houses, and that's pretty alarming.

I can tell you that such cases are happening to ordinary houses already, that's the reason people actively install security cameras in their places. Even I decided to get a security camera from ajax when I discovered https://customers.ajax.systems/ , and you can think about it as well. I had to do that the day I moved into a new house, but I'm glad nothing bad happened, even though my area is not the calmest, and burglaries there used to happen almost every month.
