bristlecone Monster

This is a blue hour shot taken at 11000 feet in the White Mountains of California's Eastern Sierra. After an arduous journey to get to the Patriarch grove, my workshop students and I were faced with an increasingly cloudy sky, and eventually heavy rain. There would be very little night photography that night, but we were able to pull off a couple of light painted blue hour shots before the deluge. The idea for the lighting was to make it look like the original Star Trek series, as if the tree were some alien menace...
