After a week of shooting in Banff and Jasper I decided to park myself at Morants Curve to try and get a great train shot. I set up my tripod waiting for a Northeast bound train to come rolling around the curve. Hours past. A few trains came steaming through but all from the wrong direction. I couldn't believe it. I thought I was going to get skunked after staying in the same spot for over 5 hours. Finally, I heard a horn blowing in the distance just as the light was getting magical. Im my mind I had pictured getting a red Canadian freight train but soon realized it was a black passenger train. I took several shots as the train rolled by. When I went through all of the images I had taken, I ended up liking the feel of this image even though the train isn't wrapped around the curve. The light, color and scenery were all perfect. I like the mystery of the train just peaking around the bend with it's lights on. Looking at this image still gives me that sense of anticipation I felt waiting all those hours for THIS train.
