Bridging the Karnali

Coming down the Karnali you don't initially notice how untouched by industry the region is. It's all river, steep and green mountain gorges, post-monsoon beaches and stars. I've seen a bridge or two in my day, but in the moment I first saw a suspension foot-bridge spanning the river I was amazed at the engineering and math and thought that must be involved to create them. For a brief moment, it was like seeing hints of civilization on an alien planet for the first time.
