Magenta Magic

There's nothing magical in the technique used to shoot this landscape. Just a steady tripod, an early rise in the middle of winter, and a long exposure.

Oh to sound so boring! This is Wanaka, New Zealand. I lived in the South Island for 8 years as a kid and into my teens, yet I somehow never got here. Fast forward 20 years, and I can't believe I'd missed one of the best places to see. There's so much awesomeness here in the outdoors to explore, I can't wait to come back here again sometime.

This particular shot was about 20 mins before Sunrise from memory, and it was nicely below zero. Even though it's nowhere near as cold as a lot of places in the Northern Hemisphere in winter, having now lived 20 years back in Australia, the few degrees below zero feels cold! But I have no problem feeling cold for great photos and memories like this!
