St. Peter's Basilica

A well-known location to shoot the St. Peter's Basilica as you have most seen it before, the sunset was quite dramatic but not very colorful unfortunately. So I decided to wait for the bluehour as well and see what I could do. The city lights really give life to the image, and the intention is to make you feel like you were there with me , I made some friend there as well, trying to sell me cheap tripods that I’m sure my D800 would smash if I mount it there… as you can see from the images I posted in the comments section I was shooting with the 70-200mm sigma lens, at around 70mm for a better depth in the image.

Regarding the image, I did shoot 4 shots for the foreground and 1 for the sky and then merged in photoshop. I did use various editing techniques, such as luminosity masking and selective color editing. The difficult part was to maintain balance of the warm and cold colors in the image, but in the end i guess I managed to achieve what I desired
