The Calm Before The Storm

Although a good number of photographers often say the best time to shoot landscapes is immediately following the rain, I thought I’d try my luck just before it arrived. The sky was littered with clouds of all sorts, and I believed there was a good chance of getting some nice color in the sky. Driving closer to the coast, however, a sky full of color seemed less likely as the marine layer rolled in and eventually obscured the sun and my dreams of a sky on fire. Undeterred, I knew that I could at least get away with a monochromatic image. At the very least, I got to explore an area of the beach that I hadn’t visited before, and found a composition that I love, and that will work well in the future.
