Invisible

This photograph was shot in studio using a Nikon D850, a Tamron 70-200mm lens, and Profoto strobes.

In November I had a hip replacement to remove a tumor that had infected my left hip, a very uncommon procedure for a 21 year old. It had been a long time coming with multiple prior procedures. However, something that always struck me was when people found out, they would say "I could never tell you had that problem," and more recently, "you don't look like you had a hip replacement."

This inspired me to shoot a series of images, this being one of my favorites, with "invisible" silver tears. The message being, you never know what someone is dealing with behind closed doors. This was a problem I largely dealt with in private, and I wanted to create a series of photos that had the emotion I felt.

Special thank you to my model Kayla and stylist Regina Weldon for helping me bring this look to life.
