Bhutan - Dancer I

Monk dancing in local festival. Our morning at Trongsa Dzong is probably one of our best travel experiences to date. Shortly after the downpour had driven off most of the tourists, we found ourselves sitting sitting cross-legged with all of the locals. Waiting in anticipation, we literally forgot to breathe when the monks dressed as the incarnation of several different Buddhist deities charged into the square. Combined with the booming trumpets and drums, the dancing, the flashes of colour and the gymnastics held us in rapt attention for hours. Smiling ear to ear, we didn't realize the rains had rolled back in until we were both soaked to the skin.
