This amazing couple wanted to have an underwater trash the dress in one of the cenotes of the Riviera Maya, but were getting married in Puerto Vallarta, on the Pacific coast of Mexico, where there are no cenotes.
What we ended up doing was renting a boat and diving gear for myself and going to the Los Arcos National Park in Puerto Vallarta.
We spent a couple of hours in the water, and I realized how much more challenging shooting in open ocean is compared to the relative safety and security of small, enclosed bodies of water, like the cenotes I was used to shooting in.
The currents, low visibility and lack of any sort of rest area - except for the boat that kept drifting away, are extra levels of complexity compared to a cenote.
In the end, the results were worth the extra challenge.
