I was returning to the Bay Area after a 12-days landscape shooting roadtrip in the western states, and when I got to Kanab I calculated that I could probably hit the light right if I went through Zion. As I descended the switchbacks of Mt Carmel Highway toward the base area of the park on the western side, golden hour was just beginning. By the time I got down to the bridge and parked nearby there was still plenty of light left. This was a good thing because it allowed me to eventually make my way through a chaotic hoard of other photogs just in time to snap off a few captures before the light ducked behind the ridge just out of frame to the right and all went blue.
