I got out to Joshua Tree for my first MW adventure of 2019 this past Friday night into Saturday morning. I decided to go to the Cholla Cactus Garden, because it's the darkest location in the park accessible to cars.
This year, I'm going to employ new lighting techniques using my strobes from when I photographed people, and this is my first attempt.
I geled my flash and popped it off several times on the Chollas to create an "electric" appearance to them.
* Fuji X-T2
* Fuji 16mm F/1.4 @ F/2.8
* Sky = 3 images at ISO 1600, F/2.8, 4 mins each
* Ground = 4 stacked images for noise reduction at 4 mins and ISO 1600
* Lighting of the chollas = 20-ish images all set to Lighten blend mode, and masked out some ground spill and rogue hot spots
