Ghost Riders

Three dual-sport riders pass through a tunnel while sightseeing along an abandoned railroad near Donner Ski Ranch outside of Donner, California. The tunnel is part of the old Pacific Railroad constructed in the 1860s and is near where the legendary Donner Party was stranded in a snowstorm in the winter of 1846 while trying to reach the west coast. Eventually, the group ran out of food and resorted to cannibalism.

The photo was taken during a photoshoot for Dirt Rider magazine featuring new-model dual sport bikes and this was the third of three passes I had the riders make. The image came out as I hoped, although the dust was a happy accident and something I hadn't anticipated, although it totally makes the shot!
