I live in an artist commune in Los Angeles, sharing a house with almost 30 other artists; actors, models, photographers, painters, illustrators, writers, filmmakers, art directors, and singer/songwriter/musicians. When I first moved in I was really worried that I would hate this house, but it didn't take long before it felt like a big family that pushes each other to work hard towards our individual and group success. Everyone is always collaborating or hiring each other, and it has honestly been the best thing to happen to me in years. One of the amenities of this house is a photo studio/ self tape room with a closet filled with various lighting equipment, much of which is missing components or broken. In the back of the closet was a cheap beat up Neewer C-300 flash unit and soft box with no trigger or sync cable, so I decided to go to a camera store and pick one up for $15 to see if it worked. When I got home and set it up, I got one of my housemates to sit down for a minute and test out the setup with me. Turns out it works! Not a bad setup for a forgotten flash unit and only $15 to get it working, right?
