Body Paint

Along with my girlfriend (who is the MUA on our shoots), we decided to invest in her makeup products so that we both could develop and create something new and try to bridge that gap between "just providing clean makeup for our models" to "let's go wild with this thing" :) We first started with more bold and graphic eye lines and finally decided to go with body paints.

First of all, we needed some good body paint if we wanted to do it right. We asked my friend who is a mime and does a lot of theatre work, to recommend us the best possible paint he used. Of course he suggested Kryolan supracolor. We were surprised by the size of the small container it came in, but it can cover the entire body!

Then there was the model issue :) We knew that we needed someone with black hair but also possibly with bright eyes. Luckily enough we found Sandra who was immediately on board with the concept we presented. We were inspired by Alexander Khokhlov’s work and we wanted to go that graphic route as well, but at the same time doing it with smaller steps. We printed and cut floral stencils on adhesive paper and got to work :)

I love how everything comes together here. The paint pattern, the pose and expression of the model, the lighting with highlights in all the right places, beautiful!
