Love this shot! I'm assuming you used a neutral density filter to get the long exposure? I have never really taken landscape pictures, I've just started, any tips on editing? how did you get this look?
Hey Kenny. That's right, although I can't remember what strength it was. The editing on this photo isn't that complicated. Mostly just boosting the colors a little bit, adding slight blue/purple in the shadows and orange in the highlights. Other than that, it's a fair representation of a late summer sunset in Iceland :)
My only other question is how is everything so incredibly sharp, while still being at f4. I understand distance from your camera effects your DOF a lot, so is if just the fact that you are farther away?
That's exactly it. There's nothing on the picture close enough to be noticeably out of focus at f4, specially not at low res like here. If looking for it, it can be seen on the original.
Incredible picture...I just joined Fstoppers. I'm somewhere between an advanced beginner/intermediate photographer (amateur). 1 (sort of) question. I would think the aperture would need to be opened up a lot more to get everything in focus. But at an f/4.5, it looks perfect....was it trial and error between f stops?
Thanks Darren.
Regarding the aperture, it doesn't make that much of a difference when everything is so far away. I think at that moment I was playing around with exposure times, trying to get the water not too washed out.

this is one of those instances where marshmallow creme water detracts from the general scene.
