Zander and I wanted to come up with a theme for our shoot that would give him the opportunity to show of a vintage trench-coat he'd inherited. We went with a full blown film-noir inspired shoot.

I grew up watching movies with Humphrey Bogart and Edward G Robinson so it was fun to bring that mysterious vibe and really purposeful lighting to a shoot of my own.

I had my friend assist with the lights throughout this shoot. For this image I had a speedlight positioned directly behind him and slightly lower than his shoulders and exposed for the flash allowing the alley and his face to drop off to blackness.
