Plenilunium: the full moon

A full moon, visible in the early morning of august 4th, 2020. The moon is offset against clouds drifting past, adding atmosphere and mood to the composition.

I had the luxury of taking this photo from the comfort of my own home, but that did mean I had to set the alarm at 3am — that's when the moon would be unobstructed by trees in my back yard. Thanks to Photopills I knew exactly when my window of opportunity was.

This image is the result of blending two exposures together. I really wanted to be able to get the clouds in because they add atmosphere and mood. Both exposures were taken a little after 3am. Incidentally, the hour between 3am and 4am was known as the witching hour, the hour associated with supernatural activity. So that makes for a nice image and subject matter relation ;-)
