Marie A. Fashion Costume

Fashion model wearing a hand-made Marie Antoinette Costume shot for Simplicity Pattern Company. Our goal was to create a mood and environment befitting the character. Obviously our budget didn't allow for a trip to Versailles, so we had to create the illusion using fabric. A trip to a discount fabric store yielded a large upholstery fabric we used as a background and a rich tapestry style fabric we used as a drape. We rented a gold chair from a prop company and made our fashion model up like the Queen of France.

The lighting tech for the shot was simply two small soft boxes close from the left side , one lighting the model and the other on the background fabric. The falloff was controlled bye using a fabric egg-crate grid on the soft box lighting the model aimed to light her face with near edge of the beam while the thrust of the beam of light fell across the costume.
