Dan Howell

Professional fashion and portrait photographer with studio in NYC. I have a long list of credits from magazine, catalogs and advertising from my 25+ years as a working photographer. I divide my photography time between casual and bridal fashion of women and child models for designers and catalogs and editorial portraiture for niche magazines. My education is in photojournalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and from an internship at the National Geographic Society. I have strayed from that path for more commercial pursuits, but have continued to focus on photography of people.

My work is about 75% based in the studio and 25% outdoors based on my clients' needs and preferences, but I feel equally adept indoors or outdoors. Working in NYC is a challenge for outdoor shooting because of the unpredictable weather, so I find myself seeking other locals for outdoor work and have frequently shot in AZ, FL, NV and CA. I regularly speak at a photo workshop in AZ and have hosted glamour, fashion and travel photography workshops in NY and Thailand.

It think that it is important to note that more than half of the images included in profile were shot on assignment or otherwise published.
