The CZU Lightning Complex Fires tore through the Santa Cruz Mountains and destroyed hundreds of houses and a huge amount of forest in the area. This shot is of a pay phone located at the Big Basin main lodge (which fell to the fires) which resides there due to poor cell service, but large crowds of campers. The protective plastic roof of this phone box melted from the heat of the fire, to create a bizarre looking piece of what could be an abstract sculpture for someone out there.
