I took this image whilst exploring Dartmoor National Park in South West England.
These sorts of rock formations are know as 'Tors'.
The processes resulting in the formation of the Dartmoor tors started about 280 million years ago as the granite that formed Dartmoor cooled and solidified from molten rock. There were a number of erosion and weathering processes that took place over millions of years to reveal these intricate structures.
