This photograph is from one of the most secluded and beautiful village called Turtuk in Ladakh, India. Lying on the banks of the Shyok river, this village is merely 10-15 kilometres away from the border of India and Pakistan. Turtuk serves as one of the gateways to the Siachen Glacier and behind these mountains lies the Pakistan controlled land. It was a cloudy day when I took the shot, the clouds were moving in and out like waves, hitting those high peaks and layering them like blankets. The sunlight was trying to peek through the clouds. The feeling of standing there, witnessing such a dramatic display of light and shadow and the grandeur of the place was one beautiful experience for me. I tried to bring back the feel to the image as I witnessed that day.
