Shortly after driving into northern California from Oregon, we got on the 101 and continued to head south. It sounds kind of cliché, but there is something about driving down a winding road through the redwoods, around a bend, and into the view of the Pacific that is like nothing else. I don't think I'll ever forget it.
We couldn't resist pulling off here, which was the DeMartin Beach picnic area. It was very cold that day, but the atmosphere was amazing, and the fog rolling in off the ocean made the whole area seem very ethereal.
