South Face of Roc della Niera (3177m) seen from frozen Lake Bleu. After spending the night at Bivacco Olivero (2650m) we woke up in early morning and hiked down to find some good spots for the sunrise. Unfortunately the snow was very deep, slowing us down and when we arrived to this spot the golden hour was over. You know, mountains are beautiful because a perfect planning is not sufficient to grant you a good result, you cannot predict what you'll encounter during the path. Anyway, we arrived at the lake and the ice layer was thick enough to withstand my weight, so i walked to the center, layed down and took this shot which is actually a composition of 3 horizontal 28mm shots to have the sense of perspective. The feature i love of this picture are the ice cracks reflecting light and leading toward the big moutain far in distance.
Frosty world
