Guardian of the Canyon (all bluff)

On a hike to a small reliable spring at the base of Corkscrew Peak in Death Valley National Monument (now National Park). I was exploring this small side canyon when I came across this resident Chuckwalla.
I began carefully stalking my new found subject with a 400mm lens. Not in fear of being bitten, Chuckwalla Lizard when spooked retreat to rocky crevices to hide.
I was sure to stay low and taking images along the way as I approached closer and closer. I think the minimal focus on that lens was 12' (about 4 meters). I couldn't focus with the lens anymore. My next short focal length was a 200mm rather than that choose I opted for my 25mm extension tube on my 400mm. Happily we got a couple more images and ended my pursuit allowing my patient subject to relax.
