Jockey's Ridge, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It is the tallest active sand dune system in the eastern United States. There were storms on the horizon making for a dramatic atmosphere. I wish this photo conveyed how windy it was on this day, as I was constantly being stung by the blowing sand.
This photo was also selected to be part of a gallery of photos displayed in the community room of the new visitor's center at Jockey's Ridge. If you ever make the trip let me know if you see it!
