Colors Of The Islands

I had the amazing opportunity to host an episode of the TV documentary series "Colors Of The Islands," where I had to conceptualize a photography project that embodied my vision of The Bahamas. Having grown up between Australia and The Bahamas, I feel most comfortable shooting on the beach. My aim is to highlight the beauty and culture of the Bahamas by blending natural light with the essence of my subjects, creating impactful images that draw the viewer's attention. For this project, I decided to capture a series of images that reflect the uplifting, powerful energy and strength of the Bahamian people through art, dance, and fashion.

As a former fashion model turned photographer, I possess an innate ability to connect and communicate with models on set. The production schedule was tight, and in a short amount of time, I transformed Courtney's dynamic dance movements into captivating images. Courtney Spears, my muse for this project, is a professional dancer who was recently recognized by Forbes 30 under 30 2024 for her outstanding work with Alvin Ailey in New York and ArtSeaDance.

The attire worn by Courtney was a custom-made design inspired by the turquoise ocean and vibrant colors of the islands, created through a collaboration between Theodore Elyett and Alannah Von Onselen at Bahama Hand Prints. The striking Junkanoo headpiece was crafted by the talented artist Rashad s Jolly. Gail Clarke provided makeup for our team, and the episode was produced by Tantra Worldwide and filmed by IC Marketing.

It was an incredible experience to witness my vision come to life on global TV networks, reaching audiences from the USA to Asia, Australia, and Europe. I feel immensely fortunate to pursue my passion and am grateful for the support of my exceptional team here in The Bahamas.
