Textured Bloom

The three dimensional quality of a shot like this is a matter of careful exposure. There is an effect known as chromostereopsis that is partly just inside your perception. That is, the three dimensional effect of this image is in your head based on how our brains process blues vs reds. In computer terms, our brains have a latency difference between blue and red because the channels work differently. One is quite an older adaptation. It shows how our eyes have evolved in stages and aren't perfect. Evidently, very early hominids saw color differently or rather were partially color blind.
