As it's Fireworks night here in the UK, what better day to post one of my best and most challenging fireworks photos.
This is Kumano fireworks festival in Japan, photographed from a the deck of a cruise ship this summer. You'd be forgiven for thinking this is some outrageous Photoshop composite with hundreds of fireworks stitched together, but incredibly the fireworks were captured in a single 5-second exposure during the crescendo of the show.
The festival is held on 17th of August every year with over 10,000 fireworks launched. I don't have anything to compare it to but I'm told it's considered one of the best fireworks displays in Japan, and I'm inclined to believe that.
