My home in Grand Junction, Colorado, sits alongside of the Colorado National Monument... a federal park near the border of Colorado and Utah, containing canyons, sheer sandstone rock walls and towering monoliths reaching about 400 feet from the canyon floor. I've been fortunate to have lived in my home for 43 years. This is the view, so whenever a lightning storm passes through, I set up my camera on a tripod in the relative safety of my garage and shoot continuous 15 second exposures. If the storm is really intense, I'll sometimes get two strikes in the same exposure.
