If you could waited for the storm to come and pass you could've gotten a wonderful sky over your good looking landscape mate.
When the sky is opening up after a storm it usually gives us some nice cloud openings and nice soft & playful light.

You can get a rain coat from e-bay for your camera, it will allow you to shoot no matter what the conditions and without worrying about the camera ;)
