I visited this beach twice before and every single time, the sky was completely flat at sunset.
While I love this beach for the amazing rock formations and great angles to shoot, this sunset was such a nice treat.
I was taking some indoor photos in San Francisco in the afternoon and was waiting for sunset, with a forecast saying the cloudy skies would clear up just in time for sunset.
I initially thought of going to Pacifica but as I was driving, I noticed that the skies around SF and Pacifica were clearing up too fast.
I thought I'd better continue on towards Half Moon bay where I could still see a lot of clouds, having a better chance for a more dramatic sky.
I arrived just a few minutes before golden hour and hurried up to set up...
Golden hour was great but due to very low tide, there was a lot of nasty stuff being brought onto the beach.
I decided to look for a cleaner place before clouds turned red and was so happy to find this clean spot.
The skies started turning this beautiful red and I just could not believe how beautiful it was. The whole foreground area was picking up the red from the sky.
Martins beach is still my favorite beach in SF area and I was so blessed with the skies that night.
Good job Gerald :)
Thanks so much Bill
